How do I paint my props?

We recommend that you prime you props before you apply your finished colour. We recommend Leyland Trade Specialist Coating MDF Primer. Pay particular attention to the edges as this is a cut edge and more porous, multiple coats will ensure the long life of your sailboards and plinths. This is a water based, quick drying primer, touch dry in 30 minutes.

For your top coat Johnston’s Aqua Guard is rated one of the best overall MDF paints and comes in a variety of colours.

Where and how should I store my props?

We recommend that all MDF sailboard and small props should be stored horizontally on their flattest side and lifted clear of the floor using evenly spaced blocks. If the floor is damp, polythene sheeting should be laid to prevent rising moisture. The storage area should be well ventilated and the room reasonably dry.

If this is not possible, store as vertically as possible and rotate the boards on a regular basis. Lift the base off from the floor, and avoid placing directly against an outside wall.
